Overview

As a Catering Event Cook at Aramark in Corning, New York, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of food items while utilizing your creativity in cooking. Surrounded by fresh ingredients and the best equipment, you will follow production guidelines and safety procedures to deliver exceptional culinary experiences.

Key responsibilities

  • Cook and prepare a variety of food according to standardized recipes
  • Set up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
  • Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, and peeling
  • Safely use utensils including knives and operate kitchen equipment
  • Bake, roast, broil, steam, and apply various cooking methods
  • Arrange, garnish, and portion food according to guidelines
  • Store food by adhering to food safety policies
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils
  • Maintain excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests and co-workers
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures regarding food safety and sanitation

Required skills

  • Experience as a cook or in a related role
  • Knowledge of food preparation principles and various cooking methods
  • Understanding of food safety regulations and proper handling
  • Basic math and counting skills
  • Interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to acquire food safety certification
