Overview

The Category Manager for Garden Lifestyle at Family Tree Nursery is responsible for the product strategy, vendor management, and merchandising for various categories including Home Décor and Pottery. This key role requires a detail-oriented approach to analyze sales data and manage inventory, ensuring the retail locations are well-stocked with appealing products that resonate with customers.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute category buying strategies across seasonal planning cycles
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate terms, pricing, and delivery schedules
  • Track and report on category performance and make recommendations based on data analysis
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align product strategy and marketing efforts
  • Travel regularly to retail locations for product presentation and performance assessment
  • Develop seasonal merchandising briefs and ensure consistent execution across all locations

Required skills

  • 3-5 years of experience in retail buying, merchandising, or related fields
  • Experience with vendor management and negotiating pricing
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in retail performance metrics
  • Hands-on experience with purchase order creation and inventory management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
