Overview

The Carpenter at The Middlesex Corporation plays a key role in the heavy civil construction sector, focusing on constructing concrete forming systems as per blueprints and specifications. Key responsibilities

  • Comply with and promote all safety policies and procedures
  • Construct, erect, install, and repair structures, scaffolding and framework using hand and power tools
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, or building plans for layout preparation
  • Secure and put away all tools, equipment, and materials at the end of each workday
  • Maintain knowledge of power equipment required for job duties

Required skills

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in bridge work
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Experience in assembly/disassembly of heavy form systems
  • Knowledge of concrete pumps, placement/finishing, and rebar installation
  • Familiarity with leveling tools such as laser levels and transits
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage a team
  • Self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills
