Overview

The Camp Wakonda Assistant Counselor at Keene Young Mens supports the YMCA's mission by providing leadership and direct supervision to a group of youth in a seasonal outdoor day camp environment. The role emphasizes creating a safe and nurturing atmosphere for children while promoting the core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Key responsibilities

  • Build personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members and participants
  • Lead energizing, fun, and culturally aware camp activities and field trips
  • Provide direct supervision and instruction to camp participants
  • Communicate actively and informatively with parents, coworkers, and the Director
  • Maintain attendance records of campers
  • Complete incident and accident reports as necessary
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and other scheduled events
  • Carry out YMCA emergency and safety procedures
  • Ensure professionalism and respect in all interactions
