Job Description

Overview

Northrop Grumman is seeking mid-career Guidance Navigation Control (GNC) Engineers for their Space Sector, located in Dulles, Virginia. This role focuses on designing, analyzing, and testing spacecraft subsystems to support various missions, including those for DoD and NASA. The position requires onsite work and a Top Secret security clearance.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and tune spacecraft attitude and position control loops
  • Design and analyze relative guidance solutions for Rendezvous and Proximity Operations
  • Develop and test sequential filters for attitude determination and relative navigation
  • Perform analysis for early design phase concept development, including actuator and sensor selection
  • Develop simulation models for various spacecraft dynamics and environmental factors
  • Document designs, analysis, and test results while creating presentation materials
  • Present findings to internal and external customers

Required skills

  • Active U.S. Government DoD Top-Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of relevant engineering experience, or equivalent experience
  • Experience developing software in MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++
  • Experience in GNC subsystem design, analysis, and testing
  • Strong technical fundamentals in spacecraft attitude and orbit dynamics and control systems design
  • Experience with on-orbit space vehicle operations and flight telemetry analysis
  • Familiarity with version control tools like SVN or Git
