Overview

E-Z Bel Construction is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil CAD Technician in San Antonio, TX to develop accurate, construction-ready digital models and deliverables for field operations. This role involves converting civil construction plans and survey data into usable formats for project teams and machine-control systems while ensuring alignment between design intent and execution in the field.

Key responsibilities

  • Create, modify, and maintain construction-ready 3D models and survey data using Trimble Business Center.
  • Develop accurate finished grade, subgrade, and existing surfaces from plans and survey data.
  • Prepare and distribute field-ready data packages for survey crews and machine-control systems.
  • Perform comprehensive QA/QC on models and deliverables, validating specifications prior to release.
  • Troubleshoot issues reported by field crews and provide corrective updates.
  • Coordinate with Survey, Project Management, Superintendents, and field crews.
  • Manage multiple active projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Required skills

  • 3-5 years of experience in heavy civil construction surveying and model development.
  • 1-2 years of field surveying experience (preferred).
  • Advanced proficiency in Trimble Business Center.
  • Strong understanding of heavy civil construction sequencing.
  • Experience with survey data and machine-control systems.
  • Proficiency with file formats including LandXML, DWG/DXF, CSV.
  • Ability to perform QA/QC with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with Civil 3D (AutoCAD) or MicroStation/Open Roads (preferred).
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
