Overview

E-Z Bel Construction is looking for an experienced Heavy Civil CAD Technician in San Antonio, Texas. This role involves creating and maintaining construction-ready digital models, translating civil construction plans and survey data into accurate deliverables for field operations, and ensuring alignment between design intent and field execution.

Key responsibilities

  • Create, modify, and maintain construction-ready 3D models and survey data using Trimble Business Center.
  • Translate design intent into accurate digital models and project deliverables.
  • Prepare and distribute field-ready data packages for survey crews and machine-control systems.
  • Perform comprehensive QA/QC on models and deliverables.
  • Identify and resolve plan conflicts and data inconsistencies.
  • Troubleshoot model and machine-control issues reported by field crews.
  • Maintain organized project files and data integrity.
  • Read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate with Survey, Project Management, Superintendents, and field crews.
  • Manage multiple active projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Required skills

  • 3-5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction surveying and model development.
  • 1-2 years of field surveying experience (preferred).
  • Advanced proficiency in Trimble Business Center.
  • Strong understanding of heavy civil construction sequencing.
  • Familiarity with DOT, COSA, and SAWS specifications.
  • Experience with survey data and machine-control systems.
  • Understanding of State Plane Coordinate Systems and related models.
  • Proficiency with file formats including LandXML, DWG/DXF, CSV, and KMZ.
  • Experience with GPS and robotic total stations.
  • Experience with Civil 3D (AutoCAD) and/or MicroStation/Open Roads (preferred).
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
