Job Description

Overview

The Cable Maintenance Technician at Astound is responsible for detecting, troubleshooting, and resolving system outages related to data, video, and telephone services. This role involves emergency restoration of coaxial and underground cables, conducting preventative maintenance, and participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect, troubleshoot, and resolve system outages in aerial and underground capacities
  • Perform emergency aerial and underground coaxial cable restoration
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on power supply and actives
  • Monitor, record, and repair cable leakage
  • Assist co-workers with fiber splicing activities
  • Complete required documentation such as work orders and daily logs
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
  • Other duties as assigned

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience as a telecom technician
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
  • Customer service and communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Problem solving and time management
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Ability to read and interpret maps
  • Bucket certification and understanding of Outside Plant
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
