Overview

The Building Maintenance/Grooming Supervisor is responsible for maintaining general tasks related to the upkeep of buildings and offices, including cleaning, snow removal, and lawn mowing. This role involves managing daily operations, ensuring safety compliance, and overseeing maintenance staff while serving as the first responder for emergencies related to building systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Undertake maintenance tasks for buildings and offices, including cleaning and snow removal
  • Monitor the security of the property and assist in managing daily operations
  • Plan and direct activities of station employees and assist in training new hires
  • Prepare reports for management and maintain timesheets for staff
  • Perform daily maintenance of ground equipment and vehicles, including scheduling inspections
  • Oversee building systems and ensure timely maintenance and inspections
  • Liaise with vendors for building and equipment repairs
  • Make adjustments and minor repairs to various systems and contact tradespersons for major repairs
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment and make minor purchases as required
  • Participate in internal and external audits and follow up on corrective actions

Required skills

  • D.E.S. or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in janitorial or similar roles
  • Punctuality and understanding of safety risks around aircraft
  • Physical fitness and comfort with heights
  • Leadership skills and excellent time management
  • General computer knowledge
  • Bilingual communication in French and English
  • Ability to maintain a customer-focused attitude
  • Knowledge of drive-trains, diesel and gasoline engines
  • Working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems, metal fabrication, and welding
  • Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams and use diagnostic tools
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive class 5 equipment and vehicles
