Job Description

Overview

Bellingham Technical College is seeking a Building Maintenance Lead to oversee and coordinate maintenance, repair, and construction tasks to ensure the campus remains safe and functional. This hands-on leadership role requires a blend of technical skills and team management in various trades including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform skilled maintenance tasks on physical facilities
  • Inspect, repair, install, and maintain buildings and utility structures
  • Supervise journey-level trades workers and coordinate with campus community
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems
  • Repair and maintain building systems, including plumbing, HVAC, and electrical
  • Operate power tools, forklifts, and service vehicles
  • Assist in remodel and construction projects
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards
  • Provide support during emergency situations and management responses
  • Maintain clear communication with campus community
  • Train students and helpers in skilled trade areas

Required skills

  • Skills in construction, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and HVAC
  • Experience in team coordination and project management
