Job Description

Overview

Bellingham Technical College is seeking a Building Maintenance Lead to oversee maintenance, repair, remodeling, and construction of the campus facilities. This leadership role requires technical expertise in various trades and coordination with the campus community to ensure a safe and functional environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise journey-level trades workers in maintenance and repair tasks
  • Perform skilled tasks in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and HVAC
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs on mechanical equipment
  • Inspect and maintain building systems including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC
  • Operate power tools and equipment for maintenance activities
  • Assist in the remodeling and construction of campus facilities
  • Manage emergency responses related to safety issues
  • Maintain security of facilities and equipment
  • Communicate status of assignments and condition of areas to supervisors

Required skills

  • Knowledge in construction, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, HVAC, and preventative maintenance
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Proficient in using power tools and maintenance equipment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
