Job Description

Overview

Bellingham Technical College is seeking a Building Maintenance Lead to ensure the safety and functionality of its campus facilities. This hands-on leadership role blends technical skills with team coordination, overseeing a variety of maintenance, repair, and construction tasks while making a significant impact on the college community.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform skilled maintenance, repair, and installation tasks for campus facilities
  • Supervise journey-level trades workers and assist in their training
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs on mechanical equipment
  • Inspect building systems and initiate corrective actions as needed
  • Operate power tools and equipment safely for maintenance tasks
  • Lead the repair and remodeling of buildings, including interior and exterior work
  • Maintain communication with campus community regarding facility status
  • Participate in emergency response efforts and routine maintenance tasks

Required skills

  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and HVAC systems
  • Technical skills in machinery and mechanical systems
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently and in teams
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to use and operate tools and equipment for maintenance
  • Capacity to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 pounds)
