Overview

4LEAF, Inc. is seeking qualified and experienced Part-Time Building Inspectors in Santa Barbara County, CA. Candidates must be capable of performing technical building inspections to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Inspect new buildings, additions, and alterations for compliance with building codes
  • Articulate complex building issues to the public, contractors, and designers
  • Identify and solve problems by providing information about code requirements
  • Field questions regarding building requirements
  • Make independent analysis during the inspection process
  • Advise relevant personnel on building-related issues
  • Write clear correction notices and inspection reports
  • Analyze and interpret building plans and specifications
  • Enforce codes impartially and with good judgment
  • Perform duties in accordance with OSHA standards

Required skills

  • ICC Certification(s)
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and local building laws and codes
  • Understanding of safety standards and construction methods
  • Basic understanding of the plan checking process
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as kneeling and climbing
  • Valid CA State driver's license
