Job Description

Overview

NAI Hallmark is seeking a skilled Building Engineer to support operations at the new University of Florida Downtown Jacksonville campus, overseeing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems. This role allows for significant ownership of complex building systems in a Class A environment while contributing to a high-impact project.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee preventive maintenance and repairs across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and control systems
  • Ensure optimal performance, uptime, and compliance across all building systems
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues efficiently
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, schedules, and system documentation
  • Coordinate and manage vendors and contractors
  • Conduct routine inspections and proactively address operational issues
  • Support and mentor junior maintenance staff
  • Assist with budgeting, capital planning, and energy efficiency initiatives
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support
  • Utilize BAS and building controls to monitor system performance

Required skills

  • 5-10+ years of experience in building engineering or facilities operations
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, including chillers, cooling towers, VAV systems, air handlers, and DDC controls
  • Experience maintaining electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex systems and prioritize tasks
  • Proven vendor management skills
  • Strong communication and professionalism
  • Valid driver's license
