Overview

The Botanist at Innovative Labs is responsible for identifying dietary supplement ingredients at the Springville, Utah facility using advanced analytical techniques. This role requires collaboration in a fast-paced laboratory environment and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify dietary supplement ingredients using microscopy and thin-layer chromatography (TLC)
  • Characterize unique structures and detect potential contaminants
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory testing and documentation requirements
  • Assist team members with day-to-day testing activities
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and prepare technical reports
  • Handle test samples and reference materials to ensure sample integrity
  • Follow Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards
  • Stay current with advances in analytical identification methods

Required skills

  • Strong knowledge of ingredient identification methods
  • Proficiency in microscopy, TLC, organoleptic, and chemical testing
  • Basic data entry and analysis skills, familiarity with Excel
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for dietary supplement testing
  • B.S. in Botany, Plant Biology, Biology, Ecology, or a related field
