Overview

The Botanist at Innovative Labs is responsible for identifying dietary supplement ingredients using various analytical methods at their Springville, Utah facility. This role emphasizes collaboration and quality within a fast-paced laboratory environment, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while contributing to innovative product development.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify dietary supplement ingredients using microscopy, thin-layer chromatography (TLC), and chemical testing
  • Characterize unique structures and detect contaminants by comparing samples to reference materials
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards during testing and documentation
  • Assist laboratory team members with testing and analytical activities
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and prepare technical reports
  • Handle test samples and ensure integrity in the lab setting
  • Follow Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards for documentation and safety
  • Stay updated on advances in analytical methods and regulatory requirements

Required skills

  • Knowledge of ingredient identification methods such as microscopy and TLC
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques including organoleptic and chemical testing
  • Basic data entry and analysis skills, familiarity with Excel
  • Strong technical writing skills for clear scientific reports
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for dietary supplement testing
  • B.S. in Botany, Plant Biology, Biology, Ecology, or a related field
  • 0-2 years of analytical laboratory experience, including internships
