Overview

The Border Patrol Agent (BPA) - Experienced role is an opportunity to protect the community and secure the nation by joining the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. This full-time position seeks individuals with previous law enforcement or military experience, offering potential advancement from GL-9 to GS-11 and beyond, along with various incentives for newly appointed agents.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
  • Perform surveillance and apprehend aliens and smugglers at or near the borders.
  • Conduct inspections of documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
  • Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using various government assets.
  • Perform physical searches of detained individuals, vehicles, and surroundings.
  • Utilize intelligence information to track illegal operations and criminal activity.

Required skills

  • Prior law enforcement or military experience.
  • Proficient in the use of firearms.
  • Experience in preparing investigative reports and serving court orders.
  • Ability to analyze information rapidly and make prompt decisions.

What the company offers

  • Up to $60,000 in additional incentives for newly appointed agents.
  • Base salary range: GL-9/GS-11, $65,545 - $124,717 per year.
