Overview

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is seeking experienced Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to join their full-time workforce in Sunland Park, New Mexico. This role is critical for securing the nation's borders and involves employing prior law enforcement experience to protect the community and uphold federal regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
  • Prevent and apprehend aliens and smugglers at or near the borders.
  • Conduct surveillance from covert positions, including night operations.
  • Perform inspections of documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
  • Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using various government assets.
  • Conduct physical searches of detained individuals and their vehicles.
  • Prepare investigative reports and gather evidence for criminal cases.

Required skills

  • Prior law enforcement or military law enforcement experience
  • Proficient in the use of firearms
  • Ability to analyze information rapidly and make prompt decisions
  • Experience in leading investigations of criminal activity
  • Knowledge of immigration and nationality laws
