The Border Patrol Agent (BPA) - Experienced position with U.S. Customs and Border Protection is focused on protecting the community and the nation by securing borders and deterring illicit activities. Applicants with prior law enforcement experience may qualify for higher-grade positions and will join a dedicated team of professionals in a full-time career role.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration and customs violations
  • Prevent and apprehend illegal aliens and smugglers near the borders
  • Conduct surveillance and maintain vigilance using various technology and assets
  • Perform checks on farms, buildings, traffic, and transportation
  • Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways

Required skills

  • Prior law enforcement or military experience
  • Ability to perform physical searches
  • Proficient in the use of firearms
  • Experience in preparing investigative reports and serving court orders
  • Capability to analyze information and make prompt decisions
