Overview

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is seeking experienced Border Patrol Agents (BPA) for full-time positions in Hatch, New Mexico. Candidates with prior law enforcement experience may qualify for higher-grade opportunities and contribute to the agency's mission of securing the nation's borders. Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws
  • Inspect documents and possessions to establish citizenship or violations
  • Prevent and apprehend individuals smuggling aliens at or near the borders
  • Maintain surveillance using infrared scopes and other technology during operations
  • Perform various types of checks including farm, building, traffic, and city patrols
  • Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using government assets

Required skills

  • Experienced in law enforcement or military police
  • Proficient in the use of firearms
  • Able to prepare investigative reports and serve court orders
  • Skilled in gathering evidence for criminal cases
  • Ability to track illegal operations and analyze information
