Overview

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is seeking experienced Border Patrol Agents (GL-9/GS-11) for full-time career positions in Tampa, Florida. Candidates with prior law enforcement experience may be eligible for higher-graded opportunities, contributing to the mission of safeguarding the nation's borders and ensuring public safety.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
  • Prevent and apprehend aliens and smugglers at or near borders.
  • Maintain surveillance and interpret physical evidence of illegal entries.
  • Perform patrols using various government assets such as vehicles, horses, and vessels.
  • Conduct inspections of documents and possessions to determine citizenship.

Required skills

  • Experience in law enforcement or military police units.
  • Proficient use of firearms.
  • Ability to prepare investigative reports and serve court orders.
  • Experience in apprehending violators of state, federal, or immigration laws.
  • Utilization of surveillance and detection technologies.
