Overview

The Border Patrol Agent (BPA) position at Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is a full-time career opportunity for individuals with prior law enforcement experience. Agents are essential in safeguarding U.S. borders and preventing illegal activities while benefiting from various incentives and career progression opportunities.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
  • Prevent and apprehend individuals smuggling aliens at or near borders.
  • Maintain surveillance from covert positions, using technology during night operations.
  • Perform physical searches of detained individuals and their vehicles.
  • Conduct patrols using various government assets including vehicles, horses, and ATVs.
  • Prepare investigative reports and serve court orders.

Required skills

  • Prior law enforcement or military police experience.

  • Experience with surveillance and detection technology.
  • Knowledge of immigration and nationality laws.
