Overview

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is seeking experienced Border Patrol Agents to protect the nation's borders and maintain public safety. The positions are full-time and offer a career ladder from GL-9 to GS-12, providing opportunities for advancement based on experience in law enforcement, military or community service.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
  • Prevent and apprehend aliens and smugglers at or near borders.
  • Conduct surveillance and use various government assets to patrol boundaries.
  • Perform investigations and gather evidence for criminal cases.
  • Conduct physical searches for contraband and weapons.

Required skills

  • Prior law enforcement experience or military police experience.
  • Proficiency with firearms and law enforcement procedures.
  • Ability to conduct surveillance and utilize technology in investigations.
  • Experience in analyzing information and making prompt decisions.
