Overview

The Border Patrol Agent (BPA) - Experienced position at Customs and Border Protection is focused on safeguarding U.S. borders and ensuring the safety of the nation. This role is intended for individuals with prior law enforcement experience, allowing for potential higher-grade opportunities and immediate full-time career positions.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
  • Prevent and apprehend aliens and smugglers at or near borders.
  • Conduct surveillance and patrol the international boundary using various government assets.
  • Perform physical searches of detained individuals and their vehicles.
  • Utilize technology to track illegal operations and criminal activity.
  • Make arrests and exercise sound judgment in law enforcement matters.

Required skills

  • Prior law enforcement or military law enforcement experience.
  • Proficient use of firearms and ability to prepare investigative reports.
  • Knowledge of immigration and customs laws.
  • Ability to analyze information rapidly and make decisions.
  • Experience in leading investigations and utilizing surveillance technology.
