Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is seeking Experienced Border Patrol Agents to protect the community and secure the nation's borders. Candidates with prior law enforcement experience may qualify for higher-grade roles and benefit from job stability and significant incentives.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws
  • Inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations
  • Prevent and apprehend aliens and smugglers at or near the borders
  • Maintain surveillance from covert positions, including night operations
  • Perform physical searches of detained individuals and their surroundings
  • Conduct patrols using vehicles, horses, and various modes of transportation

Required skills

  • Prior law enforcement or military training
  • Proficient in the use of firearms
  • Experience in gathering evidence for criminal cases
  • Ability to interpret and analyze physical evidence
  • Experience with surveillance and detection technology
