Overview

The Border Patrol Agent (BPA) position is a full-time, career opportunity with Customs and Border Protection that requires prior law enforcement experience. The BPA's primary role is to protect the community and secure the borders by deterring illicit activity while working alongside a dedicated team in various operational environments.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration and customs law violations.
  • Prevent and apprehend aliens and smugglers at or near border areas.
  • Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using various government assets.
  • Perform checks on farms, buildings, vehicles, and conduct city patrols.
  • Interpret and follow physical evidence related to illegal entry.
  • Utilize intelligence to track illegal operations and criminal activity.

Required skills

  • Experience in law enforcement or military police unit
  • Proficient in the use of firearms
  • Ability to prepare investigative reports
  • Skills in conducting physical searches
  • Knowledge of immigration and customs laws
  • Spanish language proficiency is preferred
  • Experience with surveillance and detection technology
