Overview

The Border Patrol Agent (BPA) - Experienced role at Customs and Border Protection involves protecting national borders and enhancing safety through law enforcement operations. Candidates with prior law enforcement experience may be eligible for higher-grade opportunities and substantial recruitment and retention incentives.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws
  • Maintain surveillance to prevent and apprehend aliens and smugglers near borders
  • Perform physical searches of individuals and vehicles for weapons and contraband
  • Patrol international boundaries using various government assets and vehicles
  • Gather evidence and prepare investigative reports for criminal cases

Required skills

  • Experience in law enforcement or military police
  • Proficient in the use of firearms
  • Ability to analyze information and make rapid decisions
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively during law enforcement matters
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
