Overview

The Border Patrol Agent (BPA) - Experienced role at Customs and Border Protection involves securing the nation's borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing economic prosperity. This is a full-time career position where prior law enforcement experience may qualify candidates for higher-grade opportunities and offers the chance to work alongside highly trained professionals.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws
  • Inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations
  • Prevent and apprehend aliens and smugglers
  • Maintain surveillance from covert positions, including using infrared scopes during night operations
  • Perform farm, building, traffic, and city checks
  • Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using various government assets

Required skills

  • Experience in law enforcement or military police
  • Proficient in the use of firearms
  • Ability to gather evidence for criminal cases
  • Experience with surveillance and detection technologies
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (training provided)
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills
