Overview

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring experienced Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to join their mission of protecting the community and securing the nation's borders. This role offers a career ladder from GL-9 to GS-12 with the potential for additional financial incentives and job stability as part of a full-time federal agency position.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
  • Prevent and apprehend aliens and smugglers at or near borders.
  • Conduct surveillance and maintain covert operations.
  • Interpret physical evidence of illegal entry.
  • Perform various checks, including farm, building, and traffic checks.
  • Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using various government assets.

Required skills

  • Experience in law enforcement or military law enforcement
  • Proficient in firearms use
  • Ability to perform physical searches
  • Skills in report preparation and evidence gathering
  • Understanding of immigration and customs laws
  • Ability to use complex technology for surveillance and detection
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
