Overview

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is seeking experienced Border Patrol Agents to secure the nation's borders and protect the community. Candidates with prior law enforcement experience may qualify for higher-grade positions and will have the chance to work in a dynamic environment alongside dedicated professionals.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws
  • Inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations
  • Prevent and apprehend aliens and smugglers near borders
  • Conduct surveillance from covert positions during night operations
  • Perform various checks, including farm, building, traffic, and transportation checks
  • Patrol international boundaries and waterways using government assets

Required skills

  • Prior law enforcement experience
  • Ability to perform physical searches
  • Proficient in the use of firearms
  • Experience preparing investigative reports
  • Expertise in apprehending and restraining violators
  • Familiarity with surveillance and detection technologies
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
