Overview

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is seeking experienced Border Patrol Agents (BPA) for full-time positions in Ruidoso, New Mexico. This role requires prior law enforcement experience and offers the opportunity to serve in a critical role protecting the nation's borders while working alongside highly trained professionals.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
  • Prevent and apprehend individuals and smugglers near the borders.
  • Inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
  • Perform various checks including farm, building, traffic, and transportation checks.
  • Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using various government assets.

Required skills

  • Prior law enforcement experience or military law enforcement background
  • Proficiency in the use of firearms
  • Ability to interpret and follow tracks and physical evidence
  • Experience in conducting physical searches for contraband
  • Skills in preparing investigative reports and serving court orders
