Overview

As an Experienced Border Patrol Agent (BPA), you will join U.S. Customs and Border Protection in the critical mission of securing the nation's borders. Leveraging your prior law enforcement experience, you will have opportunities for career advancement and play a vital role in protecting the community and the country from illicit activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws
  • Inspect documents and possessions to verify citizenship or violations
  • Prevent and apprehend aliens and smugglers at or near borders
  • Perform surveillance from covert positions, including using infrared scopes
  • Conduct farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks
  • Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using various government assets

Required skills

  • Prior law enforcement experience
  • Proficient in use of firearms
  • Ability to prepare investigative reports
  • Experience in apprehending and restraining violators
  • Knowledge of immigration and customs laws
  • Familiarity with surveillance and detection technology
