Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) is seeking individuals for the entry-level Border Patrol Agent position in Morristown, Vermont. This role offers a unique opportunity to embark on a federal law enforcement career focused on protecting the nation's borders and ensuring public safety. The position provides a thorough training program and excellent long-term job stability with competitive base pay and significant recruitment incentives.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws
  • Inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented individuals and smugglers at or near the borders
  • Maintain surveillance using various tools, including infrared scopes during night operations
  • Perform patrols and checks in urban and rural settings using government assets such as vehicles, horses, and ATVs
  • Follow and interpret tracks and other physical evidence of illegal entry

Required skills

  • Experience in law enforcement, public safety, or military
  • Ability to make sound decisions in stressful situations
  • Skills in gathering and analyzing information
  • Ability to speak and read Spanish and English
  • Completion of training at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy
