Job Description

Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents dedicated to protecting the nation's borders and enforcing immigration laws. This full-time role offers a long-term career in federal law enforcement, with immediate hiring to fill positions across various locations. Agents will undergo intensive training at the Border Patrol Academy and have opportunities for additional incentives and promotions based on performance.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers
  • Maintain surveillance and conduct patrols using various government assets
  • Interpret and follow physical evidence related to illegal entries
  • Perform checks on farms, buildings, traffic, and city surroundings

Required skills

  • Experience in public safety, security, military police, or law enforcement
  • Ability to make sound decisions in stressful situations
  • Skills in gathering concise information through observation and questioning
  • Knowledge of law enforcement techniques and procedures
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred
