Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents to protect the American people by safeguarding borders and deterring illicit activities. This full-time, career position offers opportunities for growth and substantial incentives, including relocation opportunities and a structured career path within federal law enforcement.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration and customs law violations.
  • Inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near the borders.
  • Conduct various checks, including farm, building, traffic, and transportation checks.
  • Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using government assets.

Required skills

  • Experience in general work demonstrating decision-making and stress management abilities.
  • Ability to gather information through questioning and observation.
  • Experience or education related to law enforcement or military.
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish is required.
  • Sound judgment in the use of firearms and dealing with law enforcement matters.
