Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents in Burlington, Maine, for a fulfilling career in federal law enforcement. This role involves protecting the borders, deterring illegal activities, and ensuring national security, with immediate hiring for full-time positions that offer excellent pay and benefits, along with significant recruitment and retention incentives.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration laws
  • Inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers
  • Maintain surveillance from covert positions, including using infrared scopes
  • Perform patrols using various government assets such as vehicles, ATVs, and boats
  • Analyze tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry
  • Conduct farm and traffic checks and city patrols

Required skills

  • General work experience in public safety, security, or law enforcement
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations
  • Sound decision-making skills
  • Experience in firearms usage
  • Ability to effectively interact with the public
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or relevant graduate-level education
