Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents to join their team in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. This role involves protecting the American people and conducting law enforcement duties at the borders. Candidates are required to undergo training at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy and will be eligible for significant recruitment and retention incentives.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violations of immigration and customs laws
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers
  • Maintain surveillance using various techniques including night operations
  • Perform various checks such as farm, building, and traffic checks
  • Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways
  • Utilize government assets for mission accomplishment

Required skills

  • Experience in public safety, military police, or law enforcement
  • Ability to make sound decisions in stressful situations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze information rapidly
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
  • Successful completion of a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
