Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents committed to a long-term federal law enforcement career. Applicants will join a dedicated team focused on protecting the borders of the United States while addressing public safety and security challenges. The position offers immediate hiring with competitive salaries and substantial incentives for new agents.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration and customs violations.
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near borders.
  • Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using various government assets.
  • Conduct checks on farms, buildings, traffic, and transport for compliance with laws.
  • Gather and analyze information to assess illegal entry of persons or contraband.

Required skills

  • One year of general work experience demonstrating decision-making and composure in stressful situations.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher education relevant to law enforcement may substitute experience.
  • Ability to make sound judgments and decisions in the use of firearms and in law enforcement matters.
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English language speaking and reading.
