Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents for full-time federal law enforcement positions. This role offers an opportunity to protect the nation's borders, deter illicit activity, and serve the public, with immediate hiring and substantial incentives available for new hires.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
  • Inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship and legal status.
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near the borders.
  • Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using various government assets.
  • Interpret evidence of illegal entry and conduct safety checks in various environments.

Required skills

  • U.S. citizenship
  • General work experience demonstrating decision-making and composure under stress
  • Educational qualifications (Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience)
  • Ability to analyze information and make prompt decisions
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English (training provided)
  • Military or law enforcement experience may qualify for higher grade levels
