Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents in Las Cruces, New Mexico. This role is designed for individuals interested in a long-term federal law enforcement career, focusing on protecting the nation's borders and deterring illegal activities. Agents will receive extensive training and have opportunities for significant financial incentives and career advancement.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and custom laws.
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near the borders.
  • Maintain surveillance and interpret physical evidence of illegal entries.
  • Perform various checks including farm, building, traffic, and city patrols.
  • Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using diverse government assets.

Required skills

  • General work experience demonstrating decision-making in stressful situations.
  • Ability to learn regulations and techniques through training.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience/education.
  • Experience in law enforcement, military, or related security fields.
