Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents to join their mission of safeguarding the nation's borders. This role offers a full-time federal law enforcement career, where new hires can make a meaningful impact while enjoying excellent pay and benefits, including recruitment and retention incentives.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at the borders
  • Maintain surveillance from covert positions using various technologies
  • Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using government assets
  • Perform checks on farms, buildings, and traffic to ensure compliance with laws

Required skills

  • Experience in public safety, military, or law enforcement
  • Ability to make sound decisions and remain composed under stress
  • Skills in questioning, observation, and examination of documents
  • Capacity to work effectively with diverse populations in law enforcement matters
  • Ability to speak and read Spanish is required

  • Salary range for newly appointed BPAs is $51,632 - $92,912 per year
