Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents to join their ranks in Spokane, Washington. This full-time federal law enforcement role offers a rewarding career aimed at safeguarding American borders and enhancing national security. Candidates with backgrounds in public safety, security, or military police can apply, and the position comes with up to $60,000 in additional recruitment and retention incentives.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration and customs violations
  • Apprehend undocumented individuals and smugglers at or near the borders
  • Conduct surveillance and maintain patrols along borders and coastal waterways
  • Perform various checks including farm, building, traffic, and transportation inspections
  • Utilize government assets for patrol and operations in support of the USBP mission

Required skills

  • Experience or education in law enforcement, military, or public safety
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure
  • Strong observational and questioning skills
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish is advantageous
  • Knowledge of immigration and nationality laws and procedures
