Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents to join their mission of protecting the American people and securing the borders. This full-time federal law enforcement position offers opportunities for individuals with backgrounds in public safety, security, military police, or law enforcement, and comes with significant career growth and incentive packages.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near the borders.
  • Conduct patrols using various government assets, including vehicles and watercraft.
  • Gather and analyze information related to illegal entry activities.
  • Perform various checks including farm checks, building checks, and transportation checks.

Required skills

  • General work experience demonstrating decision-making and composure in stressful situations.
  • Ability to learn regulations and techniques through training.
  • Interpersonal skills for effective communication in law enforcement contexts.
  • Ability to analyze information rapidly and make prompt decisions.
  • Training in immigration and nationality laws and law enforcement operations.
