Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents in Portland, Maine to join a dynamic federal law enforcement team that protects the United States borders. This position offers excellent base pay, exceptional benefits, and significant recruitment and retention incentives, with the opportunity for career advancement within the agency.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near the borders.
  • Perform surveillance using a variety of methods, including infrared scopes during night operations.
  • Conduct various checks such as farm, building, traffic, and city patrols.
  • Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using various government assets.

Required skills

  • Experience in public safety, security, military police, or law enforcement
  • Ability to make sound decisions and maintain composure in stressful situations
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred
