Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents in Chewelah, Washington, for a career in federal law enforcement. This role involves safeguarding America's borders and deterring illegal activity while becoming a part of an elite team focused on public safety. Candidates will receive extensive training at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy and are eligible for significant recruitment and retention incentives.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration and customs law violations.
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders.
  • Conduct surveillance using various techniques and equipment.
  • Perform checks on farms, buildings, traffic, and conduct city patrols.
  • Use multiple government assets for patrolling international boundaries and coastal waterways.

Required skills

  • Experience in public safety, security, military police, or law enforcement
  • Ability to make sound decisions in stressful situations
  • Effective communication skills for dealing with the public
  • Ability to follow regulations and gather information
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience for GL-5 and GL-7 levels
  • Ability to speak and read Spanish.

  • Base salary varies by grade level, with a range of $51,632 - $92,912.
