Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents who are looking for a long-term federal law enforcement career. This role is essential for protecting the nation's borders and involves various responsibilities that may require relocation to mission-critical locations.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration and customs law violations
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near the borders
  • Conduct surveillance and make observations to gather evidence
  • Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using various government assets
  • Perform various checks, including farm, building, traffic, and city patrols

Required skills

  • Experience in public safety, security, military police, or law enforcement
  • Ability to make sound decisions and maintain composure in stressful situations
  • Strong communication skills for dealing with the public
  • Capability to analyze information and make rapid decisions
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
