The U.S. Border Patrol is hiring entry-level Border Patrol Agents (BPA) in Tampa, Florida, offering a long-term federal law enforcement career aimed at protecting the nation's borders. Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near the borders.
  • Perform surveillance and monitor areas from covert positions.
  • Inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
  • Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using various government assets.

Required skills

  • One year of general work experience in a related field or a bachelor's degree.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and maintain composure in stressful situations.
  • Skills in gathering information through questioning and observation.
  • Experience in dealing with law enforcement matters in a courteous manner.
