Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to join their team in Miami, Florida. This role offers a long-term career in federal law enforcement focused on safeguarding America's borders and enhancing public safety. Candidates will receive extensive training and support to develop their skills in law enforcement.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented immigrants and smugglers at or near borders.
  • Maintain surveillance and perform patrols using various government assets.
  • Conduct checks on farms, buildings, traffic, and transportation to ensure compliance.
  • Interpreting tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry.

Required skills

  • Experience in public safety, military police, or law enforcement.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in stressful situations.
  • Skills in gathering concise information through questioning and observation.
  • Strong judgment and ability to deal effectively with people in a law enforcement context.
  • Education: bachelor's degree or combination of experience and education.

  • Annual base salary ranging from $51,632 to $92,912 based on grade level.
  • Up to $60,000 in additional incentives, including $20,000 after the Border Patrol Academy.
