Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to join their mission of protecting the United States. This role offers a long-term career in federal law enforcement for individuals with experience in public safety, security, military police, or law enforcement. New hires will receive competitive salaries along with significant recruitment and retention incentives.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
  • Perform surveillance and apprehend undocumented noncitizens.
  • Conduct patrols along international boundaries and coastal waterways.
  • Inspect documents and possessions for citizenship or legal violations.
  • Use a variety of government assets, including vehicles and ATVs, for patrol duties.
  • Participate in intensive training at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy.

Required skills

  • Experience in public safety or law enforcement.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under stress.
  • Skills in questioning and gathering concise information.
  • Strong judgment in the use of firearms.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish communication.
