Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to join their team in York, Pennsylvania. This role is part of a federal law enforcement career dedicated to protecting borders, preventing illegal activities, and ensuring the safety of citizens. Candidates will receive extensive training and have the opportunity for advancement within the agency while earning competitive pay and benefits.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and custom laws.
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers.
  • Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using various vehicles and equipment.
  • Conduct surveillance and perform checks on farms, buildings, and transportation.
  • Analyze information and make prompt decisions in law enforcement situations.

Required skills

  • Experience in general work demonstrating decision-making in stressful situations.
  • Ability to gather and analyze information through questioning and observation.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Specialized work experience in law enforcement or military may qualify for higher grades.
  • Skills in making sound judgments and dealing effectively in law enforcement situations.
